Succeed by Winning

God calls us to succeed. This is what the abundant life is all about. In God’s scheme, we become a blessing to others when we succeed.  We succeed when we win. And we win only when God comes to help.
God calls us to succeed. This is what the abundant life is all about. In God’s scheme, we become a blessing to others when we succeed.  We succeed when we win. And we win only when God comes to help.

When God calls His people to become a source and symbol of blessing, He also identifies the work to be done. He says, “I will save you and make you both a symbol and a source of blessings. So don’t be afraid. Be strong and get on with the rebuilding of the Temple” (Zechariah 8:13).  Success is doing what God calls us to do.  When our life’s direction and energies are focused on what God has gifted us to do, we are in for a success. God ensures our success by providing us the strength. It is this strength that gives us determination to pursue His calling.

God also gives His people the ability to win their battles. God uses imageries of success when He calls his people to be a blessing. “I will make Jerusalem like an intoxicating drink” to those who plan to destroy it (v. 2).  He also says that He will make Jerusalem like an “immovable rock” that will bruise those who attempt to remove it (v. 3).  On top of this, God himself will fight with them and for them by destroying all those that come against his people (vv. 6-9).  God’s people find security in God.

The Apostle Paul reiterates this promise when he exclaims, “overwhelming victory is our through Christ” (Romans 8:37). Indeed, we can’t lose if we only we stay on course.
